Precision Engineered for Seamless Power Transmission and Maximum Durability
At PowerVision, every diesel generator is built around a precision coupling system that directly impacts vibration levels, mechanical efficiency, and lifespan of both the engine and alternator.
Our generators use SAE-standard flexible couplings, custom-balanced to ensure optimal torque transmission while minimizing shock, resonance, and misalignment stresses.
A generator's coupling system connects the engine's flywheel to the alternator rotor — transferring rotational energy into electrical output. An inferior coupling increases vibration, accelerates bearing wear, and reduces efficiency.
PowerVision Gensets, powered by Lister Petter G-Drive engines, use heavy-duty SAE-compliant flexible couplings — offering perfect mechanical harmony between engine and alternator.
| Coupling Type | Description | Advantages | Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rigid Coupling | Directly bolts the engine flywheel to the alternator shaft with no elasticity. | High torque transfer, compact design. | Small fixed installations with low vibration (<30 kVA). |
| Flexible Disc Coupling (PowerVision Standard) | Engine flywheel connects via an SAE flange and flexible composite disc that absorbs torsional vibrations. | Reduces vibration Protects bearings Smooth torque transmission Self-aligning tolerance | Standard on all PowerVision gensets (20–1000 kVA). |
| Torsional Rubber Coupling | Uses rubber or elastomeric inserts between metallic flanges for high shock absorption. | Excellent damping Low noise Ideal for variable load operation | Industrial or heavy-duty continuous load applications. |
| Hydraulic Fluid Coupling | Torque transmitted through hydraulic oil chamber, allowing slip and damping. | Superior overload protection Smooth start-up Prevents sudden load spikes | High-inertia systems (e.g., cranes, mining, 1000–2000 kVA+). |
| Gear Coupling (Special Applications) | Interlocking gear teeth transmit torque between hubs with limited angular flexibility. | Compact High torque rating | Used in synchronized or parallel-generator systems. |
